Some elements of of graffiti art must be excluded
from this taxonomy to preserve the integrity &
specificity of the focus on lettering in particular.
Elements & concepts like productions, burners,
characters, getting up, fame, crews & some elements
of technique are subjective and while they may
influence or give rise to new lettering styles or
mediums they are not relevant to taxonomic
classifications.
Creating a graffiti lettering taxonomy is not as
straight forward as it seems. Defying classification
is one graffitis defining characteristics. The
various styles exist across time, regions, mediums &
techniques in ways that traditional lettering &
typography usually do not.
